St Matthew's Anglican Church, Prahran, Melbourne

A caring community making disciples of Jesus

Services.

Sunday 5pm

Young couples, singles, youth and families, with contemporary worship. During this service we sing contemporary worship songs, accompanied by a band. We have a Children’s illustrated talk (before their own programs begin) and a reading from the Bible followed by a sermon. The sermon is the central part of our service as we believe that God speaks to us through His Word, the Bible and we want to spend time learning from Him. Following the sermon, we have Question Time when anyone can ask about the Bible reading or what was said in the sermon. This part of the service is pretty dynamic as some tough questions are tackled about how the Bible applies to us today. We also pray together and we celebrate Holy Communion once a month. Following the service we hang around for a coffee/Tea and some supper together. People often walk down Chapel street to have a pizza or other meal together afterwards. About 90 people attend this service.

Children’s Teaching Program

There is a Crying Room for under three’s which is a cosy room to feed and change nappies etc. There is also a creche for children under three. Parents choose which one they use.

Kindergarten and primary school kids go to our Kid’s Club space for Kid’s Club during most of the service. During this time they learn from the Bible, say a prayer and play games and do other lesson related activities. There are three different age groupings for Kid’s Club teaching time, and during this time, the Primary aged children come together for a light meal. This means that families don’t need to rush home for dinner.

Special Services

Throughout the year we have special family, youth and outreach services. These often include all sorts of special activities, such as guest speakers and rock bands, face painting, animal farms, jumping castles – you name it…..!
