St Matthew's Anglican Church, Prahran, Melbourne

A caring community making disciples of Jesus

Children.

”Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14

At St Matthew’s, we value children highly and welcome them to all of our services. You should not worry about whether they might be too noisy or restless – they are welcome.

During the 10am service crèche facilities are available for children up to the age of 3 years. A cosy babies room for feeding mothers or restless children is also available.

During the 5pm Service, after the Children’s story is completed, there are crèche facilities for children up to the age of 3 years (bring along a snack to keep them going during this time) and also Kid’s Club programs and activities for Kindergarten and Primary school kids. During Kid’s Club, children learn from the Bible, say a prayer, play games and do other lesson related activities. There are three different age groupings for the Kid’s Club teaching time, and during this time the Primary aged children come together for a light meal (Kindergarten aged children are encouraged to bring a snack which they all eat together). This means that families don’t need to rush home for dinner.

Each term, a special Family Service is run in the 5pm timeslot. These services are for and by the children in the church, with kids playing music, demonstrating Bible memory verses and presenting Bible stories in fun ways, such as plays. We usually have some interesting activities running before and after the service, such as crafts, a jumping castle or visiting farm animals. These are great services for families, but everyone in the Church loves to see the kids participating and enjoying being a part of the Church.

A Police records check and Victorian Government Working with Children Card is required and for all people working in this ministry area.
